Give me a break people......

Seriously. I get married in about a month and a half. I am not married yet.
I am already annoyed by the number of kids who have said anything along this line:

  • Will you have a kid by next year at this time?

  • Are you ready to give up alcohol for 9 months?

  • How will being pregnant effect your race calendar?

  • Are you going to even bother with birth control or just get pregnant right away?

  • blah blah blah - have a baby - blah blah blah

I know people are very excited for us to be getting married and I know people love babies and I know people are trying to be helpful and want to be a part of this next phase in my life but seriously - stop pushing people.

Currently I have the world's cutest puppy (at least in my eyes) and for the moment she is more than plenty to handle. There is absolutely no, zero, zilch reason to have my own kid. Currently I am savoring: sleep, being able to pick up and go whenever and wherever I want, sleep, freedom, and being engaged and transitioning to being married. [yes I am aware that lots of these things are selfish however, reasons are what they are and I am jazzed to use them for a while yet].

  1. Did you guys buy a house yet? We are in the process so we get asked about babies even more now.

    1. I own a house and Marc lives a couple blocks away in an apartment. He'll move down here after we are married.

    1. It is crazy! I don't know why people think they need to press the issue!

  4. Shut the hell up!!! Really? Dear Prudie has this to say about NOSY people who can't keep their curiosity in check. Say, "I'm not comfortable discussing such private matters with you. Have a nice day."

Seriously. When I was new to my call, people often asked when we were going to start having kids. After telling a few people we didn't plan on it, they stopped asking...

BUT, last year, I got a wicked case of gastroenteritis and had to call someone last minute to lead worship. Then, through the grapevine, I heard that people thought it was morning sickness. The next Sunday I announced, "Hopefully I'm not messing up any congregational pools, but NO, I am NOT pregnant."

Sorry you're having to deal with that. It should be enough to celebrate one day at a time.

    1. I have taken to telling people that we are waiting at least ten years. Figured then if we have kids before then they will be pleasantly surprised.
